Saturday saw the Nith Young Anglers heading out to Dumfries and Galloway Angling Association’s Water at Carnsalloch on the River Nith to fish for salmon.
The Young Anglers tackled up their rods under the supervision of Glyn, Clive and Roger from Borderlines assisted by Steve, David, Jim and Debbie from Nith DSFB/Trust. The river was in perfect condition and everyone had a go using different methods to try and catch a salmon.
Congratulations to Abbie who caught her first salmon, a lovely 5lb grilse. Our youngest member Arron also had a personal best when he caught a 2.5lb Grayling. Both fish were released using their newly acquired catch and release techniques learnt at the previous session.
The participants are perfecting their angling skills and were demonstrating some excellent casting! Thanks to all who took part and to DGAA for the use of the water.
This project is part funded by The Holywood Trust, Nith DSFB, Tesco Bags of Help and other private funders and run by the Nith Catchment Fishery Trust. Many thanks to everyone for their support.
