Donations and sponsors 2006 to 2010

Solway Coast AONB in 2006 provided generous funds which provided all the equipment, tackle, protective clothing and transport to and from the Solway for over 100 young people from deprived wards in Carlisle and Allerdale taking part in 10 angling/educational days.

Very generous donations from Kevin Edwards of Congleton over the years through the sale of rods on river Eden each season.

In 2006 we also received a very welcome donation of fly fishing tackle from Alan Rimmer of Braystones, Beckermet.

9th January 2007, a very generous donation from Jack Strong.

Environment Agency in 2007 provided funding for 2 days of fishing taster sessions, tackle and bait for 22 young people from deprived wards in Carlisle.

Cumbria Community Foundations Local Network Fund in 2007 provided generous funding to provide a series of sessions both in the classroom and in the field for schools and youth groups in Northside, a deprived ward in Workington, West Cumbria. This project was completed in January 2008; we worked with 107 children between the ages of 3 and 15.

Eden Rivers Trust’s Discover Eden HLT Project in 2007 provided generous funding for angling, dipping, computer and presentation equipment to assist and improve presentation of days to young people.

Thanks to Nick Marriner of Warwick Hall for the use of the beat for winter grayling fishing.

In 2007 we also received donations of salmon and trout fishing tackle Ralph Lloyd, Carlisle and fly fishing tackle from Peter English of Carlisle.

In 2008 we also received donations of a variety of coarse, game and sea fishing tackle from Mr. Shuttleworth of Blackford.

Duncan Goldsmith is thanked for his continued personal support in addition to working in collaboration with Sportfish Reading Fly Fishing Superstore & Tuition Centre, to make a donation of equipment to assist Borderlines in introducing the young, the disabled and disadvantaged to angling and the environment.

In 2009 Duncan Goldsmith of Chilton Waste Services worked with SPORTFISH's Reading Fly Fishing Superstore & Tuition Centre and their customers donated a whole selection of coarse, sea and game fishing tackle for Borderlines to use for junior tuition on our behalf.

The Greggs of Cumbria Charity Trust donated generously towards the cost of running an introduction to fly fishing for Young Offenders at New Mills Trout at the end of October; 4 youngsters, 2 youth offending team staff and two of Greggs staff took part.

In march 2009 we finished a program with Greystoke Primary School funded by the North West Cumbria Branch of the Salmon and Trout Association, the Eden Rivers Trust and a local charitable trust.

In 2009 a total 716 children and 4 adults took part in the Moricambe Bay Project funded by the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty's Sustainable Development Fund, Cumbria Community Foundation Grassroots funding and the River Eden and District Fisheries Association with in kind support from the Carlisle and District Coarse Angling Club who have waived their junior fishing permit fees for the project.

The Cumberland Building Society

The High Sheriff’s Crimebeat fund through Cumbria Community Foundation, The Environment Agency and the Cumberland Building Society are funding the Wigton Youth Station Fishing Club project.

Thanks to a “Together we can Fund” grant from Cumbria Community Foundation in 2010 we were also able to run sessions with pupils at James Rennie School Carlisle suffering from a range of disabilities.
