The Nith Catchment Fishery Trust have been running angling taster days over the summer and Tuesday 13th August saw the third and final session.
These events are deigned to introduce people, young and old alike, to fishing.
We hold the days at our Rainbow trout Pond near Auldgirth and angling instructors from Borderlines teach participants how to set up a rod and reel, how to cast and about the fish and other animals that live in the pond.
Staff and volunteers from the Nith District Salmon Fishery Board and Trust are on hand to help out throughout the day. In the afternoon, we headed out to the pond to try out the newly found skills and everyone caught a rainbow trout.
Those who wished to keep theirs was shown how to clean it ready to be cooked and had a brief anatomy lesson at the same time!
Thank you to everyone who came along, we hope you are now hooked on fishing and will come along to some of our future events!
This project is funded by The Holywood Trust, Tesco Bags of Help, the Misses Robinson Trust and Nith District Salmon Fishery Board.
